Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin set out in search of a Sasquatch. They travelled on horseback in Six Rivers national Forest in northern California. In the mid afternoon on October 20, 1967, the two men were at Bluff Creek. They "came to an overturned tree with a large root system at a turn in the creek, almost as high as a room." Both Patterson and Gimlin saw a creature crouching beside the creek.
Patterson estimated that they were about 25 feet away at the closest point. The creature was then walking away from them and Patterson dismounted from his horse. He then ran after the Sasquatch and started to film. Below is part of the famous Patterson-Gimlin film.
